Best time to book a newborn photoshoot
The best time to book a newborn photoshoot is about one to two months before your due date. This timeframe allows you to plan ahead and ensures that your photographer has availability during the optimal time for newborn photos, which is typically within the first two weeks after birth.
Tips for booking your newborn photo session
- Know your due date: As soon as you know your due date, consider booking your photoshoot.
- Research photographers: Find a photographer whose style you love and who specializes in newborn photography. You are looking for a fully trained newborn photographer with experience and a focus on the safety and comfort of your precious baby.
- Book early: Booking your newborn photoshoot in advance ensures you have one less thing to worry about when your baby arrives. Enjoy the peace of mind knowing that your baby’s first moments will be beautifully captured.
- Stay flexible: Babies can arrive early or late, so be prepared to adjust your shoot date if necessary.
- Communicate: Keep in touch with your photographer about any changes or updates as your due date approaches.
The best time to do a newborn photo session
A studio newborn session is designed for babies in their first 21 days of life. The ideal window for newborn photo sessions is when your baby is between 7–14 days old, as they are still very sleepy and have the ability to curl. After two weeks babies are a little harder to settle and things like colic and baby acne can start to flare up. It’s not a problem, I had a lot of babies older than 2 weeks so I can do a posed newborn session in my studio, but at this stage, they are mostly captured wide-awake and wrapped if unsettled. It’s a good chance to get a cute wide-awake portrait.
You can choose to do a lifestyle newborn session instead of a studio newborn session.
🤔 What is the difference between the Lifestyle newborn session and the Posed newborn session?
A Lifestyle session is much more flexible (up to 8 weeks). Lifestyle newborn session is more about your bond with the baby and your love. It is an unposed session without any props and is done in the comfort of your own home using natural available light. So it suits you if you like candid portraits with all family members involved or if you did not have a chance to do the session within the first 3 weeks of the baby’s life.
