Clients are responsible for bringing and coordinating their own outfits. I’ve created a Christmas Outfit Guide to help you plan your session.
For family photos, aim for coordination rather than exact matching. Choose 2–3 colours that work beautifully together, mixing neutrals with one or two accent colours.
A great place to start is Mum’s outfit, then build the rest of the family’s outfits around it.
A few tips:
- Stick to colours that complement each other and the Christmas set you’ve chosen.
- Avoid large logos, very busy patterns and bold stripes, as they can be distracting in photographs.
- Add interest with layers and textures such as knitwear, lace, tweed or subtle detailing.
- For mums, midi or long dresses and skirt-and-top combinations photograph beautifully.
- For dads, keep it relaxed rather than overly formal. Chinos, neutral trousers paired with a shirt, henley, knit or simple T-shirt work well.
- Most importantly, choose clothes that fit well, feel comfortable and still feel like you.
Please plan and try on everyone’s outfits before your session and make sure they fit and are comfortable (aren’t itchy or too small/big), especially children’s clothing.
SHOES
My studio is a baby-friendly, shoe-free space, so outdoor shoes must be removed before entering.
Shoes are optional for your photos, and I may suggest some barefoot images depending on the setup. If you’d like to wear shoes, please bring new or thoroughly cleaned shoes in a bag. For babies, barefoot is always best.
TWO DIFFERENT LOOKS
Depending on the feel you’d like for your Christmas photos, you can go:
Elegant & polished: dresses, skirts, shirts, beautiful knitwear and tailored pieces.
Cosy & relaxed: Christmas PJs, chunky knits and comfortable layers for a warm, intimate feel.
A quick outfit change is welcome, provided it can be done within your 30-minute session.
You can also explore my OUTFIT INSPO FOR CHRISTMAS MINIS for colour palettes and outfit ideas.
And if you’re unsure, send me a photo of your outfit choices before your session. I’m always happy to help you put everything together. ❤️
